SKULL CRACK TRAIL DESCRIPTION

Skull Crack Trail is on the south shore of Causey reservoir, approximately 45 minutes east of Ogden, Utah. This 142 acre reservoir sits at the base of three canyons offering everything from hiking, biking, camping, horseback riding and fishing. Skull Crack trail begins at the south parking area of Causey Reservoir where you will enjoy the beauty of hiking along the water before climbing back into the mountains. You'll climb about 700 feet above the reservoir before descending back down to the eastern arm of the lake. Along the way, you'll find stunning views of Causey, natural cliffs, and multiple aspen and pine groves. This trail is popular to many hikers, runners, families, fishermen, and bikers. Even though Skull Crack is beautiful year around, one of the best times to go is during the annual Kokanee Salmon Hatch in September. Enjoy the fall colors and watch the salmon swim up stream. Very pet and kid friendly.
