Ron Thornburg in his Natural Habitat
It all started when we decided to ask each other some questions…
Weber Pathways: What’s your favorite non-motorized recreational activity?
Ron Thornburg: Hiking.
WP: What aspect of your favorite recreational activity excites you most?
RT: No matter how many times I've hiked a trail, I see something new, different and often awe-inspiring.
WP: What is your biggest recreational adventure so far in or outside of Weber County?
RT: Hiking the Wave near Kanab in the Paria Canyon Wilderness Area. (I tried for many years before successfully getting a permit.)
WP: What is your proudest accomplishment with Weber Pathways to date?
RT: Helping to start our new summer fundraiser, the Bank of Utah Trail Fest in 2017. Trail Fest is getting nearly 1,000 out to hike, bike or run on the Centennial Loop every June.
WP: Where do you want see Weber County twenty years from now?
RT: I hope that Weber County will have a reputation similar to that enjoyed by Park City and Boulder, Colo., as one of the best places in the nation for both citizens and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of our mountains and rivers.
