XTERRA Global LLC, owners and producers of the XTERRA World Tour, donated $7,000 on behalf of the XTERRA community to the GOAL Foundation and the Weber Pathways in conjunction with the XTERRA Pan American Championship on Saturday, September 7, in Ogden, Utah.

The GOAL Foundation has been a partner with XTERRA for 16 years, since the time when Odgen Mayor Michael Caldwell served as the race director for the first-ever XTERRA Ogden off-road triathlon.

Their mission is to inspire the Greater Ogden Community and its visitors to “Get Out And Live!” by participating, volunteering and spectating at recreational events, programs, and activities.

“Through the countless hours of event preparations and productions we’ve shared over the past 16 years we have truly become family with the leaders and members of the GOAL Foundation, and could not host this event without their support,” said XTERRA President, Janet Clark.

“Our donation will support GOAL’s Youth Programming, which teaches local area youth the importance of staying fit and active, while gaining an appreciation of the outdoor recreation opportunities in the area.  Activities include the Young Runners Program, Youth Summer Camps and the Shoe Give Back.”

At the post-race awards celebration in Ogden after the race, Clairesse Miljour from the GOAL Foundation accepted the “XTERRA Spirit” award on behalf of the Foundation.  The honor is bestowed annually on the man or woman, or in this case, group, who best exemplify the spirit of XTERRA and the camaraderie, commitment, and style that is the essence of the sport.

XTERRA also recognized Weber Pathways, whose mission is to plan, promote, construct, and protect a network of public pathways, trails, and related open spaces for non-motorized users throughout the greater Weber County area.

“Weber Pathways has been instrumental in creating a magnificent trails system for the local community and XTERRA athletes have been the beneficiaries of their work to improve the East Fork of the Weber Creek Trail this year. We couldn’t be more grateful for their contributions and our donation will support future improvements in the area,” said Clark.

Mark Benigni, the executive director, accepted the donation in front of an appreciative crowd of trail users at the XTERRA Awards ceremony at Snowbasin Resort.
