ICE BOX CANYON TRAIL DESCRIPTION

Ice Box Canyon Trail is a little gem. This trail is in a small canyon and follows Wheeler Creek. The wonderful thing about this trail is that during the summer the temperatures can be significantly lower than in the city. This makes it a great trail for summer hiking. Add to this the sound of the rushing creek and the shade from all of the pine and fir trees, and you have a wonderful place to get away and enjoy nature for a bit.

The trail can be accessed with a one mile hike up from the Wheeler Creek Trailhead or a one mile hike over from the Art Nord Trailhead.

You can make a nice loop of about 5.2 miles by beginning at the Wheeler Creek trailhead, hiking up the Wheeler Creek Trail to the Art Nord Trailhead, then catching the Upper Wheeler Creek Trail over to the top of Ice Box Canyon Trail and hiking down Ice Box canyon and connecting back up with the Wheeler Creek Trail.

This trail is very popular with hikers of all abilities, mountain bikes, and the occasional horse.
