Description:
It's best to think of Lewis Trail as an interesting sideline from the South Skyline Trail (See Trail #7). Most people access the Lewis Trail from the North Ogden Divide Trailhead, heading south for about two miles on the South Skyline Trail before taking a right at the first fork. The 2.5 mile Lewis Peak Trail begins at this first fork. The first two miles is a steady climb of about 1500 feet.

Trailhead location:
Access Lewis Peak from the South Skyline Trail, starting at the North Ogden Divide Trailhead. Park in the lot at the trailhead and head south.

Trail history:
Lewis Peak Trail takes its name from Lewis Warren Shurtliff, who, during his boyhood as a Mormon pioneer, was one of three boys to climb this peak of 8,030 feet.

Animals you may see:
Moose, deer, mountain lions, lots and lots of birds.
