It's a great way to learn the trails, or just meet fellow trail-lovers. Public outings consist of things like hikes, dog walks, trail maintenance, snowshoeing, bird watching, trail running, mountain biking, and more!
Whether it's hiking or mountain biking, help us get others in our community outdoors! If you're not confident with leading quite yet, we can provide you with the training you need to become a leader.

Our thanks to REI who has helped to fund Weber Pathways' program for public outings.
Youth organizations can take advantage of our incredible trail system! Youth organizations' volunteers and staff members are invited to join us for a half-day on the trails, learning which trails are best for their youth and other interesting trail facts. Leaders are given the Weber Pathways trail map, 5-Easy Hikes brochure, information on Trail Safety, and our Trail Etiquette fliers.
At the end of the day, youth organization leaders will be able to take their youth on selected trails with confidence.
To schedule a training session with a Weber Pathways staff member or volunteer, please fill out THIS FORM and a Weber Pathways representitive will contact you as soon as possible.
In 2005, Weber Pathways created the “Take a Hike” program to encourage hiking for children. The “Take a Hike” program is now a partnership between Weber Pathways, WSU Dept. of Health Promotion and Human Performance, and local schools to introduce elementary students to hiking in Weber County. The “Take a Hike” team will reinforce environmental stewardship, the health benefits of hiking, and encourage continued trail use.
All participants, parents, families, teachers, volunteers, and students will benefit from this project. For many children, this will be their first time hiking and/or their first time in the mountains.
There are three key goals:
(1) Address childhood obesity by introducing kids to a free, accessible, fun and adventurous way of exercising;
(2) Encourage a love of the outdoors by increasing environmental awareness;
(3) Increase pride in our community by connecting participants with their natural surroundings.
Our objectives are to provide the organization and leadership needed to allow 4th Grade school children to be exposed to the accessibility and beauty of our outdoors, to encourage environmental stewardship, and to recognize and value the health benefits of hiking while integrating selected physical education, health, and science core content along the trail.

Weber Pathways is very grateful for members of the community who have volunteered their time to help with the construction of trails in Weber County. Currently, we are working on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, the Weber Pathways Rail Trail, and the Weber River Parkway.
Want to help make a difference on the network of non-motorized trails in Weber County? Just bring work gloves and water. We'll supply the tools and the fun!
