| The Ogden Valley Chapter of Weber Pathways is devoted specifically to the creation and maintenance of a network of non-motorized pathways in Ogden Valley. |
We love the rural lifestyle of this beautiful valley and believe that pathways can help us enhance and preserve it. |
The Ogden Valley Chapter is currently the only Chapter of Weber Pathways. It is a perfect example of a successful Chapter run by a highly motivated group of residents in Ogden Valley who are passionate about promoting, planning and preserving a network of non-motorized public pathways in Ogden Valley, thus preserving the rural lifestyle of that geographical area. |
Monthly Meetings Ogden Valley Pathways volunteers meet the first Wednesday of every month (except December) at 7pm, at the Library in Huntsville. Please consider coming to a meeting. Everyone is welcome! |
Ogden Valley Pathways Master Plan For this reason, we created a Pathway Master Plan that was adopted by Weber County in 2002, as part of the County's General Plan for Ogden Valley. The text of the Master Plan can be viewed online, and a brochure depicting this Plan is also available. Simply contact us at wp@weberpathways.org, for a copy of the Plan. |
Ogden Valley Pathways Ordinance In June of 2004, Weber County Weber County Commissioners enacted the Ogden Valley Pathways Master Plan as it approved the Ogden Valley Pathways ordinance. This ordinance establishes requirements for pathways and pathway programs throughout Ogden Valley. It is an important step in achieving the vision of a network of non-motorized pathways throughout Ogden Valley. Ogden Valley Pathways volunteers are now working with the County to implement the ordinance. The text of the ordinance can be viewed here. |
Trail Construction Ogden Valley Pathways is also planning and managing trail construction and maintenance projects.
- Through donations from the community and a generous donation from the Jack B. Parsons Company, we are we are paving .8 miles of the Eden Trail from Snowcrest Junior High, south to the North Arm Trail Head. This section of trail be will known as The Parsons Trail.
- With a grant from the National Park Service, we are paving .6 miles of the Eden Trail from Snowcrest Junior High, north to River Drive.
- Using donations from two families in Ogden Valley and a matching grant from PacifiCorp, we are adding 1 mile of trail around Pineview Reservoir.
The Chapter will begin planning trail construction projects in Huntsville in 2005. |
Trail Maintenance In addition to new construction, Ogden Valley Pathways embarked on a trail maintenance program in 2004. We worked over 415 hours to clear downed trees and brush, improve trail surfaces, correct erosion problems, repair fencing and signs, trim branches and bushes, and collect trash. We welcome participation from individuals and volunteer groups. To see our schedule, check out this site in April of 2005; or contact us at wp@weberpathways.org. |
Adopt-A-Trail Ogden Valley Pathways encourages families, businesses, and various groups to adopt a trail in Ogden Valley. You will take charge of trail maintenance for the trail, including keeping the trail clear and trash-free. You can adopt a trail of 1/2 mile or one of 10 miles. If you're interested or want more information, contact us at wp@weberpathways.org. |
Youth Outreach Ogden Valley Pathways volunteers work with Valley Elementary School and the Old Fire House Academy Summer Camp to introduce young people to hiking and the outdoors. We sponsor essay contests on the importance of pathways. We lead guided hikes for youth. We teach "leave no trace" principles, keeping safe in the outdoors, and identifying wildflowers, trees, and wildlife. |
